All Five/7 students and their guests are invited to join us this Friday in the LWFC Warehouse for a Friday Night Jam! Celebrate the start of summer, come and hang out and play some basketball, ping pong, or show of your dance skills in Just Dance! There will be a few door prizes, some live entertainment, and some other surprises!

Bring a few bucks along for food – in addition to our regular selection of drinks, we will have candy bars on sale, and we will also have pizza by the slice for $1 or Chick-Fil-a chicken sandwiches for $3 as long as they last!

P.S. We are still looking for a few adult volunteers to help us run the cafe and manage general safety and security for the students during the party. If you are interested in helping out, please contact me using the information above before the party starts on Friday.

Soul Surfer Group Outing

We would like to invite you to our group movie outing this Saturday to go see “Soul Surfer”, the inspiring true story of Bethany Hamilton, a young girl was on her way to a professional surfing career when a shark attack took her left arm. The movie shows her miraculous recovery and determination to get back to the top of the surfing world. Bethany and her family are Christians and much of the movie deals with how she deals with this tragedy in the context of her relationship with God. The movie is rated PG due to the serious nature of the shark attack and the subsequent action sequence.

All Five/7 students, friends, and family are invited to join us for the 4:10 PM showing at the Wakefield 12 Marquee Cinemas on Saturday, April 9th. The theater is across Capital Boulevard from the church in the Wakefield Commons shopping center with the Kroger. Everyone is responsible for paying for their own ticket and food. This is a matinee showing, so tickets are $6.50 for children 2 to 11 and $7.00 for adults and children 12+.

If you are not able to attend as a family, but your child still wants to go, our Five/7 leaders will be there and will take responsibility for them, just be sure to find a leader in the lobby to let them know your child is there by themselves. With previews and trailers, the movie will be over at approximately 6:15.

Student Challenges This Week

Leading up to big day, we have issued the following challenge to students:

- Invite 1 person to “Big Day” on February 27th

If they haven’t already done so, students should send the name of at least 1 person in their life that they are trying to reach. Please send that name to five7@five7.org so the leaders can be praying with you.

Also, our scripture memorization challenge is still on – the scripture to memorize is 1 Samuel 16:7 – “But the LORD said to Samuel, ‘Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him. The LORD does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart” – this is for a chance to win a prize.

WinterJam

As announced on Sunday, we will be unable to do an organized trip to WinterJam this year. It is on Saturday, February 5th in Greensboro, NC. We are willing to try to connect individual students that want to go with families that are going and would have available seats in their car, so please contact us if you are going as a family or your child is extremely interested in going and we will attempt to match you up.

Five/7 Family Bonfire This Friday

This Friday, October 15th, 6:30-9:30 at Pastor Jody Mitchell’s House (contact Matt Beeman for address and directions)

We invite you to continue our Five/7 tradition of a fall family bonfire. This Friday, October 15th, from 6:30-9:30, Pastor Jody Mitchell will open up his home for fellowship and fun.

We’ll provide the fire, and each family should bring one box of s’more stuff (marshmallows, graham crackers, or chocolate bars) or hot chocolate. You are welcome to also bring other things to roast over the fire (e.g. hot dogs) or some other beverage to share.

If there are some men who have some time in the afternoon, Pastor Jody could use some help moving and stacking wood, contact him via email (jody@lwfc.org) if you can help.

Vision Quest – Spaces Available

Carowinds – Tuesday, July 13th

Are you ready for a rush! Come join us at Carowinds on Tuesday, July 13th for a day full of rides, friends, and fun including the “NEW” Intimidator Roller Coaster and Boomerang Bay Water Park. Bring a guest and celebrate summer with your friends from Five7 (including rising 5th and departing 7th graders). Bring money for snacks, drinks and souvenirs. Cost includes park admission, evening meal, and transportation.

Date: Tuesday, July 13th
Location: Carowinds (Charlotte, NC)
Departure: 8am from LWFC North Campus
Return: 10pm to LWFC North Campus

Register in person at any Five/7 service or through online registration. The cost is $50 by July 4th, after July 4th, if seats are available, the cost is $65.

Friday Night Jam!

We are just two days away from the Friday Night Jam! If you want to be in the basketball or Just Dance! tournaments, you need to be signed up by 6:30, and remember it is $2 to enter.

Our cafe menu will include our regular sodas and drinks, plus candy bars, pizza, and Chick-Fil-a sandwiches.

Parents – We still need a few more chaperones, we’re looking for one more Xbox to borrow for the evening, as well as additional Wii Controllers. We could also use help setting up from 4-6 PM.
